'NCRCL….is rightly regarded as the premier institution for children’s literature research in Britain', Professor Emer O’Sullivan

The Centre promotes academic excellence in research into children’s literature, primarily through thriving postgraduate MA and PhD programmes, conferences and staff publications. • We host and co-organise an annual one-day British IBBY/NCRCL MA Conference and run a biennial NCRCL Conference, showcasing themes from members' research interests.
    • We host a series of research talks per year, given by a wide range of experts in the field of children’s literature, which are open to anyone who wishes to attend.
    • We publish in diverse areas of children’s literature, including work on: philosophy and children's literature; adolescent fiction; the translation of children’s literature; multicultural publishing; intercultural exchange through picture books; landscape and children's literature Jungian approaches to children’s literature; religion and children’s literature.
