Undergraduate courses

  • IT and Media Services is responsible for all the technical and media provision at the University. 

     

    Visitors to the Library with an IT related query should go to Library and IT Enquiries.  Staff and student IT support is also provided by the IT Helpdesk which can be contacted by phone: 020 8392 3737;  email: it.helpdesk@roehampton.ac.uk or by logging a request on IT Helpdesk Self Service.

    Other services include:

    • Open-access computer suites
    • The student print and copy system
    • Laptop loan scheme
    • Internet connection troubleshooting in halls of residence

     

    The University has many open access computer labs, specialist technical facilities and support within the Academic departments. A dedicated team composed of engineers, audio visual technicians and desktop support technicians are on hand to assist students with their studies. The facilities include:

    • Computing labs
    • Education software labsIT and Media Services
    • Journalism newsroom
    • Life Sciences and Psychology labs
    • Dance Mac lab
    • Photography Mac lab
    • Film and new media editing labs
    • Language labs 

     

    The campus is fully wireless and all halls of residence have internet access.

     

    Media Services

    Media Services offer assistance and advice to students who wish to use a variety of graphics, desktop publishing, media software and hardware in connection with their course work. These include:

    • The loan of digital cameras, camcorders, audio recorders and laptop based FCP editing.
    • A media suite of PCs running Photoshop CS3, Publisher, and Movie Maker editing software
    • Scanning
    • Transferring from digital camera storage media, compact flash, memory stick, CD, Smart media cards to your student account
    • Downloading images from digital cameras
    • Writing (burning) files to CD, data and images
    • Converting video to digital files for use in presentations etc.
    • Roll laminating up to a maximum of 600mm wideIT 2
    • T-shirt printing
    • National and international fax service
    • Advice on DTP, graphics, multi-media and scanning software
    • A range of stationery and media items are available 24/7 from media vending machines situated in the Digby and Whitelands campus
    • An online recording facility is available which allows staff to be able to select freeview television and radio recordings online to help with studies.
      Once automatically recorded and processed, you can view through normal login on any PC on or off campus in the UK. Clips from the original programmes can be created to replay to aid study and assessment.
