HRP tuition fees and scholarships

Tuition fees

The fee for third-country students is charged in accordance with UK legislation – £10,000 (current equivalent: €14,750) – subject to currency changes and a small yearly inflation increase. The fee is charged in pounds sterling.

EU students are charged £3,500 (current equivalent: €5,160) subject to currency changes and a small yearly inflation increase. Bursaries are available to students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. The fee is charged in pounds sterling.

Academic scholars are charged a £2000 administration fee.  

Scholarships

The EU Commission grants scholarships to the following people: 

Applications are currently being received for all students and scholars for entry in August 2010.  For those interested in applying for the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship the deadlines are as follows:

  • Category A Student Scholarships (for "third country" students from outside Europe and students who have NOT been in Europe for more than 1 year in the last 5 years): Deadline 4 December 2009, 5pm.  
  • Category B Student Scholarships (for European students and students from outside Europe who have been in Europe for more than 1 year in the last 5 years) and fee paying students:  Deadline 31 March 2010, 5pm.  
  • Scholar Applications (for third country academics from outside Europe who have NOT been in Europe for more than 1 year in the last 5 years): Deadline 4 December 2009.  

The grants are for students to follow a selected Erasmus Mundus master’s programme, and for scholars to carry out teaching and research assignments and scholarly work in the institutions participating in the programme. Students and scholars must apply to Roehampton University. The MA HRP consortia will apply to the EU Commission for scholarship funds. Scholarships are paid through the MA HRP consortia.

‘Third-country student’ refers to a national of a country other than the EEA-EFTA states and candidate countries for accession to the EU, who:

  • has already obtained a first higher education degree
  • is not a resident of any of the member states
  • has not carried out his or her main activity for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in any of the member states or the participating countries
  • has been accepted to register or is registered on an Erasmus Mundus master’s programme.

Category A students would receive a grant of €42,000 for 24 months’ study (figures based on academic year 2008/09). 

Category B students would receive a grant of €14,000 for 24 months’ study (figure subject to confirmation from European Commission). 

Scholar students would receive a grant of €13,000 for three months’ study (figures based on academic year 2008/09).
