Induction

The International and EU Student Induction Programme for January 2010

The University will be running its international induction programme as normal for all students that have arrived as expected. For full details see the international induction programme (PDF).

However, due to adverse weather conditions we understand that a number of students will be arriving later than they had initially planned. As a result we are putting the following measures in place.

Airport arrivals

If you arrive late and have missed the University’s Meet and Greet service, you can still reach the University in the following ways:

  • public transport (cost: £14.80 anytime, £7.50 off-peak) – this option is not recommended if you have heavy luggage
  • local taxi – Alpha Cars (tel: 020 8874 0090, approximate cost: £35)
  • airport taxi (cost: minimum £50).

See the How to find us page for directions to the University.

Accommodation

Any students that arrive later than planned but during the normal University hours of 09.00–17.00 should collect their keys from the University’s Accommodation Office.

Outside of these hours keys will be left at the main University entrance in the Security Gatehouse.

Arrival Information Packs

Any students arriving after Thursday 7 January 2010 should go to the University’s Welcome Centre in Erasmus House where they will be able to pick up Information Packs and receive further information on late registration.

Late registration

If you miss your registration session, which is taking place on Friday 8 January 2010, alternative arrangements have been put in place, which you can find out about at the University’s Welcome Centre in Erasmus House.

Information Sessions

The University has arranged Information Sessions covering academic culture, campus tours, Library tours and the Students' Union on Friday 8 January 2010. We will re-arrange sessions covering these activities on Friday 15 January 2010 and will notify students via email on Thursday 14 January 2010 once the re-arranged programme has been confirmed.
