Roehampton University
Open Spaces. Open Minds.
The information on this page is for students from our exchange partners outside of Europe wanting to come to Roehampton University on an exchange.
Roehampton University has exchange agreements with a number of international partners, allowing students from these universities to study for part of their degree at Roehampton. With a beautiful parkland campus close to central London, Roehampton is a very attractive destination for students on exchange programmes.
As an exchange student, you do not pay tuition fees to Roehampton. Instead, you continue to pay fees to your home university. During the exchange, you will register for modules similar to those you would have taken at your home university, so the credits you earn transfer back to be applied to your degree.

If you are not a student at one of these universities, you will not be eligible to come to Roehampton as an exchange student. However, you may be able to register as a fee-paying Study Abroad student.
The first step is to ask your home institution if you are eligible to participate in an exchange. All of our partners have a Study Abroad Adviser or an International Office that will be able to explain your university’s application procedures and selection criteria to you.
After your home university nominates you to attend Roehampton, you will complete our incoming international exchange application form (Word).
Full-year and Autumn Term applications: 1 May
Spring/Summer Term applications: 15 October

Your home institution will need to approve the modules you plan to take at Roehampton. This is for your protection, as these modules must be suitable for your degree in order to transfer back.
Module lists are published in mid-April for the following academic year. They can be found on our programme webpages. These webpages show lists of modules divided by academic level (HE1 for first-year modules, HE2 for second-year modules and HE3 for third-year modules). Module choices can vary significantly from year to year, so it is essential that you use this website to find your modules.
A full-time course load consists of 60 Roehampton credits per term. You will not normally be able to take more than 60 Roehampton credits per term (although if you are at Roehampton for a full year, it may be permissible to take 70 credits in one term and 50 credits in another).
All the information you need to select your modules is given in the module code. This code contains information on the subject area, number of credits, academic level, identification code and term of each module.
Here is a breakdown of a sample module code, which is for ‘Origins & Developments of Children’s Literature’:
Module Code: ENG020N231A
Breakdown: ENG 020 N 231 A
Important note: Students who will be at Roehampton for an entire academic year may take modules ending in 'A', 'S' or 'Y'. Students who will study at Roehampton during the Autumn term must only choose modules ending in 'A', and students who will study at Roehampton during the Spring/Summer Term must only choose modules ending in 'S'. Some 'Y' modules have been split into autumn and spring components, so they can be taken by students who are only at Roehampton for one term. You can see a list of these modules on our website.
You can apply for on-campus accommodation and find out more about off-campus accommodation through our Accommodation Office. The University accommodation website contains detailed information about our halls of residence as well as information about finding housing in London. All exchange students are eligible to apply for on-campus accommodation, but please note that it is not normally possible for students to be placed on campus if they are not studying at Roehampton for the full academic year.
Please contact our Accommodation Office with any queries:
