Student support

Going to university presents many exciting opportunities, however at Roehampton we recognise that it can also present unforeseen challenges. This is why we offer a broad range of free support services which have been rated as a feature of good practice by the Quality Assurance Agency (2003).

Part of a community

Colleges

Roehampton University has a rare collegiate structure which provides a particularly high quality student experience and a friendly sense of community. Each college has a distinctive personality and a long history with the oldest, Whitelands, dating back to 1841. For more information about each of our four colleges see their web pages:

Digby Stuart College
Froebel College
Southlands College
Whitelands College

Chaplaincy

All four colleges have a particular tradition: Roman Catholic Digby Stuart, Methodist Southlands, Anglican Whitelands, and Froebel, which was founded by the educational philosopher Friedrich Froebel. The three colleges with church-foundations have their own chapels and a team of chaplains at each college work to build a sense of community in the colleges and the University. Roehampton also has two Muslim prayer rooms and an active Jewish resource centre.

For more information visit Roehampton Chaplaincy.

University life

Space to breathe

At Roehampton we have a 26 hectare campus with lakes, gardens and parkland. Some of our teaching rooms, accommodation, bars and cafes have views over Richmond Park.

Bars and restaurants

On campus there are nine different bars and restaurants offering a variety of food and drink at affordable prices and even off-sales and late opening. Find out more about places to eat and drink at Roehampton University.

Accommodation

Once you have chosen Roehampton as your firm choice of university we will send you accommodation information at the end of April or May. You will be asked to return your accommodation application form by a specific date. If you are considering living off-campus note that the Accommodation office produces a list of local properties, can advise on sources of accommodation and assist with any difficulties.

Security

Security provide 24-hour cover, seven days a week, throughout the year. Staff regularly patrol the campus and students can also reach them via an emergency number outside working hours.

Students’ Union

For a rousing social life outside lectures, our Students’ Union ensures there is plenty of choice, from nightly events to one of the biggest student balls in the UK, and from sports clubs to more stimulating recreational societies such as Amnesty International. Find out more about our Students’ Union.
