Roehampton University
Open Spaces. Open Minds.
The programmes share a commitment to introducing students to issues of contemporary social relevance and addressing topics that really impact upon all our lives.
The theme of human rights and social justice, which forms a central part of the University’s broader mission, cuts across our programmes.
Government audits of teaching and learning across UK universities consistently praise the excellence of teaching quality in the Social Sciences at Roehampton. Staff working in the human rights field have been rewarded for their excellence with government funding of £4.5 million to establish Crucible, the only Centre of Excellence in Teaching and Learning in the area of Human Rights anywhere in the country.
Our programmes are interactive and students have the opportunity to take part in challenging and topical debates.
The programmes provide a solid foundation to enable our students to pursue their future ambitions (see profiles of Social Sciences graduates).

"The Social Sciences at Roehampton are driven by two primary commitments – academic integrity and student flexibility. We aim to ensure that our graduates leave with a thorough and appropriate knowledge of their subject area and during their time with us they enjoy sufficient choice to be able to specialise where possible, and find enough space in their timetables for other commitments. Time and again, our programmes have been praised for their high quality of teaching, innovative curricula, and systems of student support and guidance."
