Knowledge Exchange Funding for Business

Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP)
KTPs are projects supported by Technology Strategy Boards (TSB) grants, which encourage collaborations and knowledge exchange between businesses and universities for mutual benefit.
KTPs can range from one to three years, during which time businesses receive support from a graduate (recruited to work on the project) under the supervision of the academic experts.
What’s in it for a business?
- Highly-skilled graduate to work on a strategic company project subsidized by the TSB
- Access to the expertise, knowledge and resources of the University of Roehampton.
- Risk-free assessment of a potential long-term employee. Assistance in recruiting and supervising. High-quality, free training for the graduate who may one day be a permanent employee.
- Analysis of the weaker areas of the business
- Cheaper than employing consultants and there is ongoing appraisal of the success of the scheme on both sides, which you would not get from a consultant.
What’s in it for the graduate?
- Hands-on experience in delivering a cutting-edge project which is critical to a business.
- An opportunity to impress long-term employers. Often the graduate ends up staying on at the company and continues to drive new initiatives forward.
What’s in it for the University?
Our University gets the opportunity to bring real-world cutting edge solutions back to the classroom, and receives funding for the academics involved. The KTP can also offer great opportunities for papers and research.
