Chaplaincy retreat

contemplation on retreat

In 2008/ 09 we camped out on a Church floor in Canterbury in November and sung psalms and hymns with Monks at Worth Abbey in February.

and this is what the students thought about them...

"These retreats provided a great opportunity to get away from the noise and isolation of every day life. We got to discover new places and spend time with others and get to know them. I found that in the two weekend retreats I found friendship, relaxation, and refreshment. This gave me time to find myself and God in a renewed way.
These retreats provided nourishment for body, mind, and soul.
The retreats were different from each other

Canterbury was a Joyful trip. Our accommodation was basic without access to showers. This simplicity was wonderful though. It roused a sense of solidarity. It was an experience of engagement with both Christian Heritage and to Participate in Christianity as it now is.

Worth Abbey was a rich experience. We enjoyed the Benedictine hospitality in a stunningly beautiful place. Together we discovered the treasure of their way of life, and engaged with their wisdom.

These retreats in different ways provided opportunities for reconnection with God, ourselves, and each other."

"Retreat allows you to encounter a different part of university and chaplaincy life: RELAXATION!! From finding out more about yourself and others to partaking in the life of a monk - there is something for everyone to enjoy and experience."
