Senate

Senate is the senior committee within the University responsible for academic standards and the regulation of academic matters. Senate is made up of senior academic and professional service leaders at the University, as well as elected staff and student members. The current composition of Senate can be accessed at the bottom of this page. 

Meetings of Senate are held monthly during term time, but are not usually held in December, April or August, during vacations. Senate reports to Council at each Council meeting, summarising the major business addressed since the last Council, as well as presenting proposals formally for Council’s approval. In its turn, Council reports back to Senate regularly on its major business and decisions. Senate's Terms of Reference can be accessed here.
