DETAILS OF THE AHRC 2010 STUDENTSHIP COMPETITION ARE NOW AVAILABLE - DEADLINE 31st MARCH
UK research councils provide some financial assistance to students undertaking specific research in particular fields and you should contact the relevant body.
In addition to the research councils there are a number of trusts, charities and foundations that may provide postgraduate funding. The Grants Register (Macmillan Press) provides comprehensive information and can be found in most libraries.
Roehampton offers a small number of Postgraduate Assistantships each year in specific subject areas. The awards are offered competitively and if successful you would receive a full tuition fee waiver and a maintenance bursary for 3 years. In exchange for your bursary, you may be required to teach or undertake equivalent duties up to 6 hours per week. The Postgraduate Assistantships and their terms are advertised on www.jobs.ac.uk when they become available.
Schools offer a limited number of Postgraduate Scholarships each year of which the terms differ across Schools. Postgraduate Scholarships are usually equivalent to the remission or partial remission of tuition fees but in some cases a maintenance bursary may also be offered. When scholarships are available they are advertised nationally through websites such as www.findaphd.com and www.jobs.ac.uk. Scholarship competitions will also be advertised through the Roehampton University website and included on this Postgraduate Funding Page.
International students are not excluded from the University's Postgraduate Assistantship or Scholarship schemes, although you may be required to pay the difference between the 'home' and 'overseas' fee rates. For further information about financing your studies in the UK visit the International Students website.
