Roehampton University
Open Spaces. Open Minds.
The University has separate appraisal schemes for all staff groups and every member of staff should be having an annual appraisal. Your line manager should make arrangements directly with you to hold your appraisal meeting at a mutually convenient time. If you have queries on the appraisal process, please approach your line manager in the first instance.
After discussions with staff representatives, at the Staff Development Committee and with Heads of School, some revisions to the Academic Appraisal Scheme were introduced to run as a pilot in 2003/4.
All Schools are now asked to use the new documentation for the forthcoming/current appraisal round.
The revisions to the scheme now provide for a full appraisal meeting to be conducted annually [with an optional mid-year review should this be helpful] and the links to the Academic Workload Analysis Scheme are explained so that the two schemes can be conducted in parallel, to avoid duplication of effort. The paperwork has been simplified, and revised guidance notes written for both appraisers and appraisees. It is hoped that appraisals for as many academic staff as possible will be done using the new scheme over the coming months.
Regular Appraisal Training sessions are held throughout the year, or we can arrange bespoke programmes for a particular school/department if you would like. For further details, please see our T&D course pages.
