Learning and Development

Welcome to the Roehampton Staff Development Home Page.

We are pleased to present the Staff Development Directory for the 2009/10 academic year.

The success of the University depends on all staff having the relevant skills, knowledge and competencies to undertake their roles effectively.  The University is committed to providing appropriate development opportunities to ensure that members of staff and their Schools and Departments, are able to contribute fully to the achievement of the University’s objectives. The Staff Development Directory enables you to see in one place, the full breadth of the development and training programmes and events available across the University.

The programme contained within the Directory is informed by a Training Needs Analysis (TNA) conducted by Human Resources with Schools and Departments in May/June 2009 supported by the University Staff Development Group. It is also informed by the University Investors in People assessments carried out annually and by feedback from users of the programme.

The activities provided are an opportunity for you to enhance or develop new skills and knowledge that will assist you in your current role and future career. This will be the second year of providing the Directory on line.

You will find details of two management development programmes (MDPs) alongside courses tailored towards administrators and also manual and craft staff.  These specific programmes are supported by short briefing sessions covering particular University issues or procedures for staff who need to be aware of these matters but who feel they are unable to attend a whole day course.  The briefing sessions are arranged at different times throughout the working day to maximise opportunities to attend.

Should you identify development needs that are not being met by the central programme, please speak to Beatrice Gordon on ext 3530 in the first instance.  If sufficient interest can be identified to warrant a course being run centrally then this will be arranged during the year as finances permit.

We are continually developing the support available to you, so please keep an eye out for the latest news on our web pages.  We always welcome feedback either on the programme content itself or the way that we communicate it to you.  Please send your comments to b.gordon@roehampton.ac.uk.
