The Human Resources Strategy has reviewed the reward and retention of staff within the University. As part of our commitment to rewarding and developing staff we have committed funds to developing staff in all areas.
In excess of £195,000 is delegated to Schools and Departments on production of a Learning & Development [L&D] plan, which is evaluated at the end of the year.

This initiative was launched in the 2004/5 academic year as part of the HR Strategy using HEFCE monies. The Scheme is intended to provide funding 'for a talented researcher in a non-intensive department [scoring 4 or below in RAE 2001] to spend 6 months researching in a high scoring department, within another institution'.
Project proposals will need to be submitted by 29th September 2006. Proposals need the support of your Dean of School/Director and a panel from the Research Strategy Committee will consider all applications later in September 2006.

You may be interested to know that the rules have changed on the fee waiver policy. This policy has been revised to enable employees to undertake a course of study at Roehampton for FREE. The fee waiver will apply to all HEFCE funded courses, and both full and part-time staff will be eligible to apply. Those on fixed term appointments may also be eligible, dependent on the length of the contract.
