Biometric Resident Permits (BRP)

Information about BRPs and what to do if there is an error or if your passport or visa is lost or stolen.

There is no need to apply to replace your BRP if you obtain a new passport. However, you will have to notify UKVI of your new passport using form MCC.

If you obtain a new passport because you have changed your nationality, then you will need to replace your BRP card to reflect this. You can report this change in circumstances online using the following UKVI weblink:

You must report any changes in circumstances if you are in the UK and have a BRP or have applied for a BRP but haven’t had a decision yet.

You must apply for a new BRP straight away if any of these things change:

  • Your name/nationality/facial appearance/gender
