Postgraduate study

Roehampton University Sacred Heart Scholarship

Description of the Scheme and Eligibility

Roehampton University and the Society of the Sacred Heart have established a scholarship fund to encourage postgraduate studies and research in areas which promote international understanding and which enable candidates to work more effectively in their communities upon completion of their studies.

The scholarships are available to academically excellent students from both within and outside the UK to follow a programme of study at Roehampton University. Candidates in any discipline are encouraged to apply. Applications are particularly welcome from candidates whose proposed area of study or research is broadly relevant to the areas of social justice, human rights, inter-religious understanding, education, the environment, or gender issues.

The Scholarship will usually consist of the tuition fee and free or subsidised accommodation in Digby Stuart College, one of the four colleges at Roehampton University.

General Conditions

  • The main criterion for the award is academic excellence. However, excellence in other areas of the candidate’s past work or volunteer experience may also be considered. The awarding Panel will also take financial need or other compelling circumstances into account.

  • Scholarships for taught masters and taught doctorate programmes will be for the duration of the course, while MPhil and PhD scholarships will be for a maximum of 3 years for full-time students or 5 years for part-time students.
