Centre for Research in Renaissance Studies (CRRS)

About the Centre

Roehampton has a distinguished tradition of research in Renaissance studies with a number of internationally recognised scholars producing high profile work in this field (see the Members page).

The Centre for Research in Renaissance Studies (CRRS) draws together the work of staff in Classics, Drama, English, History and Art History, with particular interests in the fields of Italian Renaissance history; seventeenth century politics; Shakespearean afterlives in literature, theatre, and the media; gender and performance; early modern court and domestic cultures; textual editing; and Renaissance visual cultures and mythographies. CRRS also offers an interdisciplinary MA programme drawing on the expertise of staff in Drama, English and History, and provides interdisciplinary PhD supervision across a wide range of subjects, supported by a varied annual programme of research seminars by external and home speakers, and regular international conferences and postgraduate Study Days.

The Centre for Research in Renaissance Studies aims to enhance Roehampton's international reputation for excellence in Renaissance studies by promoting interdisciplinary research, publication and postgraduate education in the University.
