Roehampton University
Open Spaces. Open Minds.
We understand that competitive sport may not be everyone’s cup of tea and aim to provide a comprehensive and holistic wellbeing programme for all. While some of us may benefit from a dynamic game of netball, others may enjoy more relaxing pursuits or time away from the hustle and bustle of day to day life. Some of us, of course, may benefit from both!
In looking to provide students and staff with multiple options to look after their own health and wellbeing, the University health and wellbeing working group has been set up – informed by professionals from Student Services, Sport Roehampton, Exercise and Health Sciences, Student Welfare, the Students' Union, Chaplaincy, Human Resources and the Medical Centre.
Key to the success of this group is the ability to create links between services and facilitate opportunities for referrals.
Our programmes and activities currently include:
The University Health and Wellbeing Adviser is the first point of contact for students who have questions or concerns about their own wellbeing, and anyone concerned about the wellbeing of students. There is a drop-in facility in the Student Advice Centre, Lawrence Building, Froebel College, on Wednesday afternoons in term time from 2pm to 4pm.
Alternatively, you can contact the following people, who may refer you to the Health and Wellbeing Adviser:
The Students’ Union Welfare Officer can also assist with a referral to the Health and Wellbeing Adviser. Independent access to counselling is also available by going to the Student Medical Centre.
Roehampton University has been chosen as one of just 5 UK organisations to take part in a National Lottery funded 'Walking Works Campaign Partner Scheme' initiative. We are the only UK University taking part and we will benefit from expert advice and £1000 to spend on walking promotions.
The initiative aims to encourage employees to walk more overall - both to and from work and between work meetings.
Make your pledge to walk more and read what it’s all about here: http://www.walkingworks.org.uk

‘Walking Works’ at Roehampton is jointly run by the Environmental and Sport & Wellbeing Teams.
