Research interests include documentary filmaking:
representing reality through the camera; Visual
anthropology: cross-cultural communication and
representation, ethno-psychiatry, North/South dynamics,
participatory development, women issues, urban
anthropology.
2003 (Chapter) "La documentazione di uno sguardo" in
L'idea documentaria - Altri sguardi dal cinema italiano (The
documentary idea - other perspectives from Italian
Cinema), edited by Marco Bertozzi, Turin LINDAU. A
collection of essays from Italian authors and theoreticians
on Italian Documentary Filmaking.
2007 (sole author, Writer, director and D.o.P.) ABC
Colombia, a 90min. documentary film set in a rural one-
classroom primary school in Colombia. An intimate portrait
of a small rural community in a part of Colombia entirely
controlled by paramilitary forces, rendered through the eyes
of the children who grow up there, and are often forced into
very difficult choices. A co-production between the Italian
GA&A and the French “Les film d’ici” for Arté Grand Format,
Channel4, Yle TV (Finaland) and ITVS (U.S.A.). ABC Colombia
will be also airing on a new PBS channel called World.
2003 (co-author) "Scusi, dov'é il documentario?" (Excuse
me, do you know where documentary is?) a 20min.
provocative documentary on the present situation of Italian
documentary realized as a collective work by four Italian
authors. Produced by Doc.it it was presented at Venice Film
festival in conjunction with the presentation of "L'idea
documentaria".
2002 (sole author, Director and D.o.P.) Umberto Eco,
Renaissance man, a 30min. documentary portrait on the
Italian world acclaimed writer for BBC4 "Profiles"
2001 (sole author, Writer, Director and D.o.P.) No risk no
champagne , a 90min. documentary on women trafficking
from Eastern Europe produced by Fandango for RAI2.

2001 (3 episodes, Director and D.o.P.) Hidden Tuscany, a
3x50min. tv series prod. by Crimsons Films for Channel4.

1995 (sole author, Director and D.o.P.) Fine Pena Mai - Life
after Life , a 90min. 16mm colour documentary about four
inmates sentenced to life imprisonment in the island prison
of Porto Azzurro (Elba). Co-produced by the N.F.T.S. and
Metafilm (Italy) in collaboration with RAI 3. Best Director
Award at the Sulmona Cinema Giovani Festival 1995, Best
Film Award at San Benedetto del Tronto 1997. "Fine Pena
Mai" was released twice on RAI3 in ´95 and '96 and on SBS
Australia in 1996.
Ms Colusso teaches on a number of modules on the Film
Study and Screen Practise programme.
