I am a practicing poet, literary critic, and and text-based artist. In 2003 Roehampton hired me to help set up its new Creative Writing BA degree and to teach its first cohort of students. I was also responsible for designing our MA degree in 2005, and I currently supervise eight PhD students. I welcome inquiries from prospective research students in my areas of expertise.

Earliest image of Chartist rally uncovered in Library of Congress

The oldest known image of a Chartist rally has been uncovered by University of Roehampton professor Ian Haywood, after lying untouched in a sketchbook in the US Library of Congress for well over 100 years since it was drawn by a teenager in 1839.
