I have been an English lecturer at Roehampton for over 20 years. My teaching interests are mainly in Nineteenth-century American literature, Twentieth-century literature of the American South, and the short story.

I am co-ordinator of the EML School recruitment team and am keen to encourage widening access to higher education.

Poet David Harsent wins prestigious TS Eliot prize

A striking collection of poems called Fire Songs by Roehampton’s Professor of Creative Writing, David Harsent, has won the renowned TS Eliot Prize, one of the most admired in the poetry world.

Shortlist announced for inaugural Ruskin Poetry Prize

The Roehampton Poetry Centre at the University of Roehampton in London announced today [Thursday 15th January] the shortlist for its inaugural Ruskin Poetry Prize. The Ruskin Prize is an open competition established to commend a single work of an author’s poetry.
