I have been an English lecturer at Roehampton for over 20 years. My teaching interests are mainly in Nineteenth-century American literature, Twentieth-century literature of the American South, and the short story.

I am co-ordinator of the EML School recruitment team and am keen to encourage widening access to higher education.

Roehampton’s Fincham Press publishes its first title

The Trouble with Parallel Universes is the first publication from the University of Roehampton’s own printing press, Fincham Press.

James Smythe shortlisted for the prestigious Arthur C. Clarke Award

The Arthur C. Clarke Award is given for the best science fiction novel first published in the UK during the previous year. The award was established with a grant given by celebrated science fiction writer, Sir Arthur C. Clarke.
