Senior Lecturer

(BA in English Language and Literature, University of London; PhD in Drama, University of London) Her teaching and research focus on modern British and European (especially political/'state of the nation') drama and theatre. She is Senior Lecturer and SENDA Officer for DTPS.

Teaching

Susan teaches both seminar-and studio-based courses at Roehampton. She convenes the specialist courses in State of the Nation Drama and Theatre, Theatre Criticism, Mapping Modern Drama and Innovations in Modern Theatre. Other undergraduate teaching includes: Playwriting, Performance Project, and Approaches to Drama. Postgraduate teaching currently focuses on supervision of PhD research.

She has served as External Examiner for the University of London (Queen Mary and Westfield College/Central School of Speech and Drama, BA Drama and a Language) and External Assessor for Middlesex University 2(in a validation process for an MA in East/West Theatre Studies). She was for several years Tutor in English at Royal Holloway College, University of London; Lecturer at the Institute of European Studies (in affiliation with the London School of Economics); Lecturer at Beaver College (USA) London; Lecturer at Ithaca College (USA) London. She has been a Guest Lecturer at both the Central School of Speech and Drama and Westfield College, University of London. She has attended many conferences including the Themes in Drama conferences at the University of London and the majority of the Birmingham University conferences hosted by the MA in Playwriting Studies.

PhD supervision successfully completed : doctoral thesis by Ada Graf-Weiss: 'Ibsen's "realist cycle": a metatheatrical investigation'(2003).
