If you are beginning your PGCE in September 2010, you are advised to contact Student Finance England to apply for financial support from early March 2010 onwards. You can apply online at Student Finance Direct website. The assessment usually takes approximately six weeks.
Expected to be £3,290 a year. A fee loan is available via Student Finance England and the Student Loans Company. You repay the loan once you have completed or left your programme and are earning over £15,000 a year.

Expected to be up to £2,906 and available from Student Finance Direct. If you are a student from the UK, part of this grant will not be income assessed; your eligibility for the balance will be assessed according to the income level in your home.
The maximum maintenance loan available is expected to be £6,928 for students studying in London and not living in the parental home. 72% of the maximum loan is available to all eligible students; the remaining 28% is means tested according to your or your family’s income. A reduction of part of the loan will apply to students who are eligible for all or part of the maintenance grant. Contact Student Finance Direct for more information.
A means-tested allowance, expected to be up to £1,508 a year is available to students with dependent children.
A means-tested grant of up to £255 per week for two or more children is available to students with dependent children in registered or accredited childcare.

You will need to produce your LA/Student Finance Direct student support notification to Roehampton’s Finance Office and you will then receive monthly payments.

When you have graduated and take up a permanent position in a maintained school or non-maintained special school in England, you may be eligible for a one-off taxable "golden hello" payment of £2,500 or £5,000. Find out more on the TDA website.
Roehampton offers a bursary of £500 to full and part-time PGCE students who have been awarded the full means-tested Maintenance or Special Support Grant. A scholarship of £1,000 is awarded to PGCE students with a first-class Honours degree on arrival at Roehampton. Equal instalments of both the bursary and scholarship are paid in February and May.
Available to registered students in particular financial hardship. You should have taken the maximum student loan entitlement. You should be aware that all the above funding and the TDA Bursary will be taken into account when your application for hardship funding is assessed.
