University Secretariat

Governance

The University Secretary and Registrar is Clerk to the University Council, the governing body of the University which carries responsibility for ensuring the effective management of the University and planning its future development. Staff within Secretariat service a range of Committees of Council and Senate.

The Deputy University Secretary (Governance) is Secretary to the University Senate. The Senate of the University is the supreme academic body of the University and acts as its management committee. Senate therefore considers proposals about the academic standards and processes of the University, and the operational aspects of strategy agreed by the Council.

Please visit the Governance webpage for more information.

The Secretariat co-ordinates the student academic appeals process. Please read the Academic Appeals Procedure Step-by-Step Summary before making an appeal.  Students wishing to make an academic appeal should address a letter to the Deputy University Secretary (Governance).
