The IT and Media Services department (ITMS) is responsible for the central provision of IT and Media services to the University.

This includes:

  • The University infrastructure e.g. wired and wireless networks; the phone network;
  • Responsibility for key IT systems including the Active Directory domain; Communication services (Exchange email etc.);
  • Support for University servers including specification and design to ensure resilience and fault tolerance;
  • Hardware support and the roll out of centrally purchased IT equipment for the University;
  • Staff and student user support ( IT User Services);
  • Support of specialist technical facilities within Academic departments (Technical Academic Services);
  • Assistance and advice to students who wish to use a variety of graphics, desktop publishing, media software and hardware in connection with their course work (Media Services).

IT User Services

Responsibilities include providing user support for:

  • University of Roehampton network accounts: password support etc.;
  • Student and Staff Microsoft Sharepoint portals (Student MyZone; Staff MyZone);
  • Microsoft Office 365 for students: O365 Email; One Drive;
  • The open-access computer suites;
  • The University Wi-Fi networks;
  • Internet in Halls of Residence (all rooms have an internet connection);
  • The student and staff print/copy/scanning network;
  • University standard software (including providing free 1:1 tuition and classes).

Provide support for facilities including:

  • Computing labs;
  • Education software labs;
  • Language lab;
  • Journalism newsroom;
  • Life Sciences and Psychology labs;
  • Dance Mac lab; Photography Mac lab;
  • Film and new media editing labs.

Media Services

Services include:

  • The loan of digital cameras, camcorders, audio recorders and laptop based FCP editing;
  • A dedicated suite of PCs running Adobe Creative Suite 6 and Movie Maker editing software;
  • Support for downloading images from digital cameras;
  • Writing (burning) files to CD, data and images;
  • Converting video to digital files for use in presentations etc.;
  • T-shirt and poster printing;
