Arts Council funding for international dance development visit

Simon Ellis has been awarded Arts Council funding to attend the Centro per la Scena Contemporanea in Italy.

Simon Ellis has been awarded funding from the Arts Council England's Artists' International Development Fund to attend the Centro per la Scena Contemporanea in Northern Italy. (http://www.artscouncil.org.uk/funding/our-investment/funding-programmes/artists-international-development-fund/).

As a result of the award Simon will travel to Bassano del Grappa at the end of October to develop touring and collaboration opportunities with other artists and producers from across Europe. Along with Simon, will be lighting designer Jackie Shemesh, and former Batsheva dancer, Chisato Ohno.

Simon said: “This support from Arts Council England is a great opportunity to develop contacts and practices in Italy, and to continue my collaboration with Chisato Ohno and Jackie Shemesh. I'm excited to work at Centro per la Scena Contemporanea.”

Centro per la Scena Contemporanea is renowned for experimental contemporary dance which has a strong community feel. The trip hosted by Roberto Casarotto will help build the profile of the Dance Department internationally. Simon will return from his trip on 2nd November.
