is a six day dance festival showcasing the University of Roehampton’s community of dance thinkers and artists. The festival provides opportunities for people to experience Roehampton Dance through classes, workshops, performances, academic conferences and networking events.
A student committee plans and delivers the festival, now in its 4th year. Footprint
is a key university calendar event and an imperative learning opportunity for students.
The committee is responsible for managing all aspects of the festival from liaising with external performers, managing budgets, promoting the event and ticket sales. Third year students take on roles such as Co-Artistic Director, Press Officer and Treasurer. Footprint
Co-Artistic Director, Jennifer Whittaker said: “It is a festival for everyone and anyone to discover, inspire and celebrate all that dance can be. We aim to present a dance festival in Roehampton which engages the University, the dance profession and the wider community. With a programme of international guest artists, student work and local community and youth groups, there is something for everyone to get involved with.”
Head of the Department of Dance, Ann David said: “I am very excited about this year’s Footprint
dance festival. It promises to be an inspiring, lively event, packed with free workshops, evening performances, debates and general fun. I do hope that you will come along and enjoy what will be the results of such hard work by our students.”
The festival is launched today [25 April] and students from the Department of Dance will be based in the ground floor of the library, the Union Bar and outside Davies building in Froebel College.
