UK and EU Postgraduate Students

The information on this page is subject to change – please check back regularly for updates. The University reserves the right to adjust the value, volume and eligibility criteria of its scholarship and bursary programmes.

Postgraduate Loans

All UK and EU students (excluding online students) starting a postgraduate taught course in 2017 and 2018 are entitled to a loan from the Government. You can borrow up to £10,280 to cover your tuition fee and living costs.

The loans, available to anyone under 60, are for all postgraduate courses (excluding online students), full-time, part-time and distance learning, and for both taught and research masters courses.

Loans will be repaid on an income-contingent basis and made concurrently with undergraduate loans.

Alumni Scholarship

Eligibility All UK, EU and international alumni holding a full Roehampton undergraduate degree or postgraduate qualification and those who studied here on an exchange/study abroad programme who wish to return to the University of Roehampton to undertake a higher programme of study. Applicants must be enrolling in a programme which is taught on campus.
Exemptions:
– Undergraduates moving onto a PGCE course. 
– All alumni from short courses including Pre-sessional, International Foundation Certificate, Pre-masters Certificate, Foundation Degree, CPD.
– This discount is not available in conjunction with the VC’s scholarship for international students and would be given instead of the VC Scholarship (currently £1,000 and £500).
Amount 20% tuition fee discount.

You do not need to apply for this scholarship – your eligibility will be assessed automatically.

Combinations This scholarship can be combined with the Scholarship for Sporting Excellence or Roehampton Music Scholarship.

Santander Universities

Santander Scholarships

The University of Roehampton is part of the Santander Universities Network and Santander Bank provides a range of Scholarships.

Eligibility Grants available to support the work of research students and academic staff. Applicants must be enrolling in a programme which is taught on campus.
Amount Up to £1,000 for one year of your course.
Application Applications must be submitted before the deadline, Monday 6th June 2016. Successful applicants will be notified during the first week of July 2016.

Ede & Ravenscroft Scholarships

Ede & Ravenscroft have provided a number of grants to the University of Roehampton to support research students and academic staff.

Eligibility Grants available to support the work of research students and academic staff. Applicants must be enrolling in a programme which is taught on campus.
Amount Up to £1,000 for one year of your course.

Roehampton Music Scholarship

The University of Roehampton offer music scholarships to enable undergraduate and postgraduate students meet some of the costs of developing their talents through lessons, courses, or the purchase of relevant equipment (instruments/strings/sheet music etc.). In return, music scholars enhance the cultural life of the University through performances and enrich their colleges by being available for events chosen by College Heads.

Eligibility

The scholarships are open to all full-time Roehampton students from all disciplines.
The successful candidates have to:
– Support the promotion of music at Roehampton;
– Collaborate with other musicians at Roehampton;
– Be willing to perform each term at Roehampton, both at fixed events in their respective colleges and for events in the University calendar (exclude those on extended study abroad).

Applicants must be enrolling in a programme which is taught on campus.

Amount Up to £1200 cash award.
Application

- A statement detailing why you should be considered and what the funds will be used for;
- CV outlining your musical experience to date;
- An audition (instrument/voice).

Combinations

 The scholarship cannot be combined with any other postgraduate scholarship.

Scholarship for Sporting Excellence

The University is dedicated to giving its students the opportunity to play sports at all levels. We recognise the difficulties students encounter trying to balance academic studies with training and competition schedules. Alongside the scholarship, we offer a support network designed to encourage talented sports men and women to meet their full potential in their academic studies, as well as their chosen sport.

Eligibility The scholarships are open to all full time Roehampton students. Applicants must be enrolling in a programme which is taught on campus.
Amount – The scholarships range from £500 - £1500 per year of study.
– Additional support to help you to manage your academic studies with your sporting activities.
– ROEActive gym membership.

Vice Chancellor's Scholarships 2016 (for PhD study)

Roehampton is pleased to offer Vice Chancellor's Scholarships for PhD research areas across the University. We are seeking bold, innovative postgraduates with a record of achievement to undertake a broad range of thematic and cross-disciplinary projects. You will be supervised by experienced teams of internationally renowned scholars, enjoying extensive opportunities to collaborate with a diverse range of partners and to work within one of our highly acclaimed research networks.

Eligibility

The Scholarships are available for UK/EU and international students who will start as new research students in October 2016-17 only.

Students must apply for eligible project areas. Applicants must be enrolling in a programme which is taught on campus. Please see the website link below.

Amount

Funding is available for UK/EU and international students at Home/EU rates applied as a tuition fee waiver and paid stipend for three years full time or five years part time.

Recipients will be expected to undertake 6 hours of work in their departments per week (this may include teaching, demonstrating, research assistant work, etc).

PhD Studentships

 TECHNE

TECHNE is an AHRC Doctoral Training Partnership, a Consortium of seven higher education institutions, including the University of Roehampton, based in London and the South-East of the UK. The Consortium is named TECHNE in reference to the Greek term for craft – it will create a new model for collaborative research skills training for PhD students.

As a member of the TECHNE AHRC Doctoral Training Partnership, University of Roehampton applicants for PhD study are eligible to apply for TECHNE studentships to start 1 October (stipend and fees). The proposed PhD research must fall within one of the eligible areas in Arts and Humanities.
