Alumni Scholarship

Eligibility

All UK, EU and international alumni holding a full Roehampton undergraduate degree or postgraduate qualification and those who studied here on an exchange/study abroad programme who wish to return to the University of Roehampton to undertake a higher programme of study. Applicants must be enrolling in a programme which is taught on campus.

Exemptions:

  • Undergraduates moving onto a PGCE course;
  • All alumni from short courses including Pre-sessional, International Foundation Certificate, Pre-masters Certificate, Foundation Degree, CPD.

This discount is not available in conjunction with the VC's scholarship for international students and would be given instead of the VC Scholarship (currently £1,000 and £500).

Amount 20% tuition fee discount.
Application You do not need to apply for this scholarship – eligibility is assessed automatically.
Combinations This scholarship can be combined with the Scholarship for Sporting Excellence or Roehampton Music Scholarship.

USA Alumni Referral Scholarship

Eligibility USA students enrolling on a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate degree programme who have been referred by an alumnus of the University who holds a full Roehampton qualification or who studied here on an exchange/study abroad programme. Applicants must be enrolling on a programme which is taught on campus.
This scholarship cannot be applied to students enrolling on a short course, including Pre-sessional, International Foundation Certificate, Pre-masters Certificate, Foundation Degree or CPD.
Amount 20% tuition fee discount.
Application Complete the alumni referral form and upload to your application under 'any other supporting documents' section.
Combinations This discount is not available in conjunction with the Vice Chancellor's International Scholarship Scheme and would be given instead of the VC scholarship (currently £1000 and £500).

Vice Chancellor's International Scholarship Scheme

All eligible postgraduate students from outside the UK or EU who achieve qualifications on entry meeting the criteria outlined below will receive a substantial award from the Vice Chancellor's International Scholarship Scheme.


Eligibility
Postgraduate students from outside the UK or EU applying to study a full time postgraduate degree on campus. Applicants must fulfil the criteria listed below.

Amount Band A: £1,000 fee discount for 2017/18 entry. The scholarship will be paid during the first year of study.

Santander Scholarships

Ede & Ravenscroft Scholarships

Ede & Ravenscroft have provided a number of grants to the University of Roehampton to support research students and academic staff.

International Excellence Scholarship

The scholarship aims to increase the number of international students in line with the University's internationalization strategy. The University will award 15 scholarships of £4,000.

Eligibility International students at postgraduate taught level only. Applicants must be enrolling in a programme which is taught on campus.
Amount £4,000 tuition fee reduction. Awards are for one year only and cannot be combined with the Vice Chancellor's International Scholarship. This scholarship can only be combined with the Scholarship for Sporting Excellence or Roehampton Music Scholarship. The scholarship cannot be deferred. Students who defer their offer to the following academic year will be required to resubmit their application.
Application

As part of the direct online application form, applicants will be able to tick a box if they wish to be considered for the IES scholarship and will be directed to submit a 500 word statement including:

  • Evidence of academic excellence;
  • Evidence of commitment to the subject area;
  • An explanation of how they will engage with and contribute to the University community;
  • An explanation of how the award with benefit them financially.
Decision making Applications must be submitted by 31 March 2017 to be considered for the award. All decisions will be made by 31 May 2017.
Successful applicants Applicants will be contacted if selected and given a month to accept the offer. The relationship with those who accept will be managed by International Officers. Students will be expected to become an 'International Ambassador' , which will involve providing a profile to be used in international publications, and attending University events when required.

Roehampton Music Scholarship

The University of Roehampton offer music scholarships to enable undergraduate and postgraduate students meet some of the costs of developing their talents through lessons, courses, or the purchase of relevant equipment (instruments/strings/sheet music etc.). In return, music scholars enhance the cultural life of the University through performances and enrich their colleges by being available for events chosen by College Heads.


Eligibility

The scholarships are open to all full-time Roehampton students from all disciplines.

The successful candidates have to:

  • Support the promotion of music at Roehampton;
  • Collaborate with other musicians at Roehampton;
  • Be willing to perform each term at Roehampton, both at fixed events in their respective colleges and for events in the University calendar (exclude those on extended study abroad).

Applicants must be enrolling in a programme which is taught on campus.

Amount Up to £1200 cash award.
Application
  • A statement detailing why you should be considered and what the funds will be used for;
  • CV outlining your musical experience to date;
  • An audition (instrument/voice).
Combinations This scholarship can be combined with the Alumni discount, Vice-Chancellor's International and International Excellence scholarships.

Scholarship for Sporting Excellence

The University is dedicated to giving its students the opportunity to play sports at all levels. We recognise the difficulties students encounter trying to balance academic studies with training and competition schedules. Alongside the scholarship, we offer a support network designed to encourage talented sports men and women to meet their full potential in their academic studies, as well as their chosen sport.

Eligibility The scholarships are open to all full-time Roehampton students. Applicants must be enrolling in a programme which is taught on campus.
Amount
  • The scholarships range from £500 - £1500 per year of study;
  • Additional support to help you to manage your academic studies with your sporting activities;
  • ROEActive gym membership.

Fulbright Awards

International students can apply for The Fulbright-University of Roehampton Award in Dance and the The Fulbright-University of Roehampton Scholar Award.

PhD Studentships

TECHNE

TECHNE is an AHRC Doctoral Training Partnership, a Consortium of seven higher education institutions, including the University of Roehampton, based in London and the South-East of the UK. The Consortium is named TECHNE in reference to the Greek term for craft – it will create a new model for collaborative research skills training for PhD students.

As a member of the TECHNE AHRC Doctoral Training Partnership, University of Roehampton applicants for PhD study are eligible to apply for TECHNE studentships to start 1 October (stipend and fees). The proposed PhD research must fall within one of the eligible areas in Arts and Humanities.
