Visiting the University Library

Members of the community are welcome to use the Library. Visitors are required to show their ID to Library staff and sign in at the Reception Desk.

After 9pm access to the Library is only allowed for registered students and staff.

External membership

Alumni and members of the community are welcome to use the Library. Reference access is free of charge, but we also operate an external membership scheme which allows borrowing for an annual fee. Standard external membership cost £60 per year, for Alumni this is reduced to £50. This allows access to our collections for reference purposes and also five loans from our main collection. Access to the IT network is not included and not currently a service we can offer. For more information follow the links below.

Visiting Roehampton under the SCONUL Access scheme

If you are visiting Roehampton using the SCONUL Access scheme please bring your SCONUL Access card or confirmation email, along with your home institution Library card. If you have borrowing access (bands A, B, or C) we will produce an ID card for you free of charge. We will take a digital photo in the library when you visit. This service is available from 8am-9pm Mon-Fri and 11am-6pm Sat-Sun.

Unfortunately access for external members including SCONUL Access users is not permitted during extended hours 9pm-midnight and during 24 hour Opening.

Access to the University IT network and printing services is not included and not currently a service we can offer.

If you are visiting from another institution you can get WiFi access by using the Eduroam network. To use Eduroam your home institution must participate in the scheme. You can find more information on accessing Eduroam here.

Archives and Special Collections

The Archives and Special Collections consist of rare books, original documents and artefacts which support various teaching and research areas of the University of Roehampton. The collections relate to Friedrich Froebel and the kindergarten, Froebel College, Children's Literature and the children's book author Richmal Crompton, Dance, and to a number of other areas including Religious Studies.

The Archives and Special Collections are open for use to all students, staff and external visitors.
