School of Humanities and Social Sciences
Research

Roehampton's research into the humanities explores human life and existence, asking questions such as who we are and what we are doing here, examining the human condition, exploring our past to better understand our present. Within the English and creative writing field our academic staff's research ranges from Shakespeare and Dickens to James Bond and children's literature. Our social scientists' research is led by a multi-disciplinary team of sociologists, criminologists, social anthropologists and socio-legal scholars, united by a drive to explore inequalities, prejudice and social trends as they relate to social justice in diverse societies.
Our School is home to four research and knowledge exchange centres. Each centre is committed to developing our understanding of the disciplines on which it is focused. We work with local businesses, civic partners and policy makers to develop opportunities for knowledge exchange. Click on the tiles below to find out more about each centre.
