Impact

We support improvements in health provision and address health inequalities by informing public health and policy, engaging in collaborative industry-led research, and working directly with clinicians and practitioners. We combine our academic excellence with social awareness of health challenges to produce research that has vital implications for public health and policy.

Research by Yvonne Jeanes and Adele Costabile investigating the accessibility of gluten-free food (cost and in-store availability) has been used by professional bodies (including the British Dietetic Association and British Specialist Nutrition Association) to influence government policy, leading the Department of Health and Social Care to retain ‘GF breads and flour mixes’ on the prescribed foods list following their Impact Assessment.

Siobhan Strike collaborates with the Sport Surgery Clinic - a private orthopaedic and sports medicine hospital in Dublin, Ireland – to improve patient treatment based on the results of the collaborative research.
