Andrea Luka Zimmerman offers inspiration to staff and students at the CRFAC screening of her film Taşkafa, Stories of the Street.

Andrea Luka Zimmerman's Taşkafa, Stories of the Street is about street dogs in Istanbul.

It was selected both for the 2013 London Film Festival and as a Film of the Year for 2013 by esteemed film critic Sukhdev Sandhu.

Andrea presented what is only the third screening of the film in the UK to an enthusiastic group of Roehampton staff and students on 5 March 2014. Andrea also spoke eloquently and passionately after the film about her philosophy, methods and techniques.

The screening was presented as part of a series of filmmaker events hosted by the Centre for Research into Film and Audiovisual Cultures (CRFAC).

Meanwhile, Secret City, a film by Michael Chanan, a Professor in Video Production at Roehampton, recently enjoyed a screening at De Montfort University, Leicester, through their Media Discourse Group. The screening took place on 19 March 2014.

Secret City is an award-winning film about the City of London, the Corporation that runs it, and its role in the economic crisis.

Finally, William Brown's film China: A User's Manual (Films) enjoyed a CRFAC screening at Roehampton on 12 March 2014, while his previous film, Common Ground was also screened to staff and students at the University of Central Lancashire on 4 April 2014.

China: A User's Manual (Films) involves a fictional dialogue between filmmakers Christian Bouche-Villeneuve and Sandor Krasna (both better known as the late French filmmaker Chris Marker) as the former travels across China. The Roehampton event was its first and only public screening so far.

Common Ground tells the story of a city worker looking for his brother during the recent economic crisis. Inspired by various classic film noirs, Common Ground played at FEST Film Festival in Portugal in 2013 and was recently selected as part of the American Online Film Awards Spring Showcase 2014.
