Welcome to the Faculty of Business and Law
On behalf of my colleagues at the Faculty of Business and Law, I would like to welcome you to your new academic home at Roehampton. Our aim is to help you to develop into the sort of person that you aspire to be.
You'll be taught by a friendly, passionate, committed and qualified team of academics who have professional and academic expertise.
All of our Business programmes are accredited by UK Chartered Professional Bodies – the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD) or the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) – adding to the credibility of your course and your learning. You will be taught by colleagues who produce world class research, ensuring that you are familiar with the very latest developments in the field of business, accounting, human resource management and marketing.
We are particularly focused on developing your business readiness - your potential to make an immediate impact in, and long-term difference to, the organisation that you choose to work with when you graduate. We do this by helping you develop the knowledge and skills that will help you thrive in business. Work with us so that you are fully prepared for a challenging and rewarding career in business management.
The Faculty is also home to our diverse law community, where you will learn with our passionate, dedicated team of experienced practitioners and academics who will support your legal career ambitions. In the latest Complete University Guide, Roehampton Law has been ranked #1 in the country for student satisfaction. We think that’s because we provide you with the opportunity to act like a lawyer from the start, gaining the key legal skills required in our ‘law in practice’ environment. During your programme, you will also have the opportunity to learn advocacy and debating skills in our mock trial room.
Our in-house Law Clinic also provides students with the opportunity to assist with real-life legal casework in the community, meaning that you’ll be able to gain practical experience in the field while helping our Clinic provide support and guidance to those in need of assistance.
We offer many opportunities for you to get involved with the Faculty of Business and Law and the University through academic events and student-led societies. I urge you to become a member of the University of Roehampton Business and Law Societies, which are run by students for students. Use them to develop personally and professionally. Aim high, and make the most of the activities and career opportunities you have available to you at Roehampton.
I wish you every success, and look forward to meeting you during Welcome Week.
Professor Sunitha Narendran
Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law
