Welcome to the School of Humanities
On behalf of all your lecturers and teaching staff I would like warmly to welcome you to your new academic home at Roehampton.
As a humanities student you will benefit from the pride and passion we put into your learning experience. Your lecturers have cutting-edge ideas and publish world-class research, and these elements will inform your teaching in original and interesting ways. We in the School of Humanities are passionate about the areas we teach, and will give you the opportunity to study stimulating modules that range across many periods, explore numerous civilisations and literary forms, and adopt a variety of methods and perspectives. Most of all, we will help you to make the most of your own interests and talents.
Your campus grounds and buildings are rich in their own history. They display many neo-classical artworks and fine architecture, providing a stunning and inspirational backdrop to the study of the humanities. Many of our courses will also be offering you work placement opportunities, so you can develop your skills and knowledge outside of the classroom, as well as enrolling for exciting study abroad trips to, for example, Berlin or Rome.
Whatever your personal interests or career aspirations, I hope you make the most of all the opportunities open to you. I also hope that I will see you at the many events, workshops and seminars organised by the department.
I look forward to seeing you on campus soon. My colleagues and I are ready to help you settle into your first year of studies.
