Welcome to the School of Life and Health Sciences
We would like to warmly welcome you to your academic home at Roehampton, the School of Life and Health Sciences.
Whether it’s a curiosity with the workings of the human body, an interest in living organisms or a dedication to top-level nursing care, you are now part of a school where you will have the freedom and support to follow your passion.
As a Life and Health Sciences student, you will be able to take advantage of our specialist laboratories and your lecturer’s contacts within the industry to gain fieldwork and work placement opportunities. Nursing students will benefit from our innovative community and primary care-focused courses and undertake a range of clinical placements with local healthcare providers. You will also be the first students to learn in our £3m state-of-the-art Mary Seacole Health Innovation Centre. A textbook which supports placement learning will shortly be published by the nursing team.
Last year, we saw a number of events take place including ‘Pint of Science’ week, seminars which ranged from ‘why am I slower in the heat’ to ‘what determines clinical outcomes in chronic illness’, careers talks, and the launch of a new nutrition book written by two of our lecturers.
There will be plenty of opportunities for you to get involved with the School, whether that’s through our thriving calendar of events, workshops and seminars or our student led societies.
Best wishes,
School of Life and Health Sciences
