Welcome to the Department of Social Sciences

Congratulations on securing your place to study at the University of Roehampton. We are delighted that you are joining us and are looking forward to welcoming you as you embark on your university career.

The Department of Social Sciences – which incorporates Criminology, Law, Sociology, Human Rights and International Relations – is a truly interdisciplinary department and we have world-leading experts who teach  subjects ranging from ‘honour’ killings to corporate law; international human rights to drugs  policy. We work in partnership with our students and there are numerous ways in which you can get involved in university life – including through the departments Student Feedback Forum.

We will offer you the opportunity to develop new skills and are committed to ensuring students achieve the very best they can. We do this by offering a range of innovative teaching and learning opportunities that stretch students at every stage of their degree, and by providing all students an academic guidance tutor. Whatever your interests and ambitions are, we are here to help you make the best of your studies and give you a rewarding university experience.  Employers across both the public and private sectors are keen to recruit social science graduates because they have the analytical and communication skills that benefit society and the economy. There is never a better time to be studying the social sciences, and studying at Roehampton is a great place to begin your journey.

We look forward to meeting you!
