Welcome to the Extended Degree Programme

Welcome to the University of Roehampton!

I am pleased that you have chosen to study with us. In my role as the Head of Extended Degree Programmes, I would like to offer you a warm welcome to our academic family. We are delighted that you are here to study with us and we hope you are looking forward to studying with our supportive and inclusive lecturing staff. I invite you to make the most of the academic and social opportunities being at university can offer you and to engage fully with your studies.

Our main aim at the University of Roehampton is to: ’Change lives by helping our students to develop the confidence, knowledge, skills and adaptability they need for a successful career and fulfilling life.’

The Extended Degree Programme is your chosen degree programme, with the first year being a foundation year. This year is aimed to develop your academic, practical experiences and skills and provide you some subject-based knowledge in your chosen areas.

You will experience different ways to learn and understand how assessment at university works, build your confidence and personal strengths, develop the ability to adapt and overcome new situations and finish with a good grounding in your subject that you have chosen to study over the course of university. We are here to support you in transitioning into university life and to ensure a positive outlook when progressing into your degree programme.

Our students have previously commended us on our support, module content, an increased confidence after finishing the foundation year, and would recommend the programme to new students. We hope you enjoy your course this year and please remember: We are all here to help – please get in touch if we can do anything to support you and help you achieve your goals.

Have a good Welcome Week, and a great year.

We look forward to meeting you online and in person.

Lucy Atkinson, Head of Extended Degree Programmes
