A new league table published in the respected Times Higher Education magazine shows Roehampton is the best new university in London for student experience. The University has risen 28 places from last year in the annual review of students’ opinions.

Roehampton is listed higher in the table than neighbouring Kingston University as well as King’s College London, Goldsmiths, the LSE, Westminster and City universities.
Students from all higher education institutions were asked to score various features of their institution from one to seven. Roehampton students graded 19 out of 21 features at an average of five out of 7 and above, including the quality of teaching and staff (average 5.7 out or 7), organisation of their courses (average 5.6 out of 7), as well as the standard and opening hours of the library (average 5.9 out of 7).
For several weeks each year during peak study periods, the University of Roehampton library is open 24 hours a day to allow students to study at times which suit them. Each department has a dedicated subject librarian, and modern facilities mean group and individual study spaces are available.
The high standard of the campus environment was especially appreciated, with an average score of 6.1 out of 7. The University has a 54 acre parkland campus which is the most scenic in London, parts of which border Richmond Park. The campus houses classic and modern buildings, sports and social facilities, two lakes, chapels and extensive gardens. Work is currently being carried out to construct a brand new hall of residence in the heart of the campus.
David Dickinson, Director of Student Experience at the University of Roehampton, said: “Firstly, we want thank all our students who have given the University such great support, it’s really important to know we’re helping everyone to enjoy their time here in Roehampton.
“The Times Higher Education report confirms Roehampton has a great community spirit and is a university where students are given the support to study effectively and secure excellent degrees, as well as being well-prepared to join the work force after they graduate.”
The Times Higher Education report is based on research by the Youthsight organisation. Roehampton’s positive result echoes the most recent Sunday Times’ Good University Guide rankings which placed it as the best modern university in London.
Final year students can still give their opinion on the University in the annual National Student Survey.
