Place Value and Manipulatives
This course will explore the key concepts, structures and patterns essential to developing a deep understanding of place value. An underlying theme to this course will be consideration of what it means to be mathematical and the importance of enabling pupils to spot patterns and to make connections in their learning.
This course will include opportunities to explore:
- the role of manipulatives and models in enabling pupils to visualise structures
- patterns and relationships for place value
- a range of approaches to enabling pupils to develop mastery of the key ideas and concepts including rich tasks and contexts.
This course would be appropriate for teachers from y2-y6 and mathematics subject leader.
