Trans-emotional counselling and psychotherapy represents a form of therapy still at the early stages of development. However, this series of linked CPD courses is designed to provide both an informed knowledge base and confidence in respect to effective interventions for those working with trans and non-binary people.
Suitable for Mental Health Professionals, Teachers, Social-Workers and other individuals working In a professional capacity with trans and non-binary people.
This will cover an introduction to trans-emotional approaches to therapy. It will provide participants with an introduction to the literature, help them to become confident with this area of still emergent Theory and begin to think about the social and cultural context of ‘trans’.

The course takes place on a Saturday & Sunday between 10.30am and 4.30 pm.

The class will involve a degree of Experiential Learning. Classes will be restricted to a maximum of 30.
Participants will be encouraged to keep an ‘Experiential Log’ of their learning journey. This might include notes from theory but will just as likely include impressions from films or TV, novels or other forms of popular culture as well as personal experiences, professional reflections and insights. On completion of each level participants will submit a short reflective essay (1,500 – 2,000 words) summarising their achievements in respect to the agreed Learning Outcomes associated with each level.
All three Levels are accredited with The CPD Certification Service,* recognised by a variety of Professional Bodies including the BPS, HCPC, UKCP and BACP. Please note that this course (comprising all 3 levels) is currently subject to validation as a Masters level module. Once validated participants may be offered the opportunity to register as Associate Students* of the University (subject to meeting admissions criteria ) and receive academic credit on successful completion.
