Welcome to our English Literature offer holders!
Welcome to the English Literature programme at Roehampton. Please make yourselves at home.
English is located within Roehampton’s School of Humanities and Social Sciences, which offers degrees in a wide range of disciplines, such as History and Politics, Liberal Arts, Sociology, and Philosophy, Religion and Ethics, among many others. Teaching at Roehampton starts in late September, but you may be interested in finding out more about the kinds of things you’ll be doing while studying with us.
In your English Literature course you will explore much more than “just” classic literature: you will study new and exciting texts across many historical periods; you can develop your skills at creative and professional writing; and you’ll also be able to study other media, such as film. We also help you secure placements and teach you professional practices.
Having met our friendly and knowledgeable team — or walked through our gorgeous parkland campus —, some of you will have made a firm decision to come to Roehampton; others may still be making up your minds. Either way, we encourage you take a peek through our pages and see for yourself what a fascinating range of teachers and subjects await you here.
A quick way of engaging with what’s going on is by following our Twitter accounts for English and Creative Writing (@UR_ECW) and Humanities (@UORHumanities).
We really hope to see you in September and look forward to sharing our passion for literature with you and to help you come closer to a career built around words, culture, and creativity.
