Summary

The global business environment is currently undergoing a series of fundamental and far-reaching economic, social, technological and geopolitical changes. These changes have led to the emergence of a new and very different market reality that demands of managers very different patterns of thinking and behaviour.

Our MSc Global Business Management has been designed to ensure that graduates will have a sound theoretical grounding in the broad area of business and management and will develop a range of analytical and personal skills. You will have a clear understanding of how your new knowledge and skills may be used effectively within an organisational context.

Evening and weekend

For our UK and EU students, we offer the study option of evenings and weekends. This study option offers exactly the same levels of student support and the ability to balance your full-time studies with your personal life. Typically, classes are timetabled for two weekday evenings and one Saturday per week.

For September 2020: Evening and weekend delivery will available in Manchester only. You will have a blended learning approach that means you will have:

  • 2 virtual evenings a week
  • 3 Saturday classroom days per semester

Birmingham based students are encouraged to apply for this delivery option.

Blended learning

If you study this course as a blended learning mode, you will have:

  • Recorded lectures, available online
  • Synchronous online seminars
  • Face-to-face workshops

On successful completion of the MSc Global Business Management students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate well developed powers of analysis and synthesis; apply relevant theoretical frameworks to the analysis of real life international business scenarios; absorb complex market information, make strategic decisions and communicate them effectively
  • Exercise effective leadership and manage business operations successfully in a complex and changing global business environment characterised by risk and uncertainty;
  • Display a comprehensive understanding of relevant techniques applicable to your own research, demonstrating self-direction and originality in tackling and solving global business and management problems.
  • Demonstrate the intellectual and transferable skills necessary for employment and career enhancement in international business management roles, such as the exercise of initiative, decision making, communication, personal responsibility, teamwork and leadership.

The programmes uses a range of learning, teaching and assessment techniques to ensure you can apply what you have learnt to real business issues and scenarios. You will be exposed to cases that look at businesses of different sizes, backgrounds, structures and missions, to reflect the career choices such like you may face in the future.

You will have 12 hours of contact time per week in lectures, seminars and workshops. You will also be expected to engage in independent study, around 38 hours per week.
