Brain Awareness Week

The University made another contribution to the annual Brain Awareness Week (BAW) in March 2010. BAW is a high-profile international activity coordinated worldwide by the charity ‘Dana Alliance for the Brain', in order to disseminate and popularise the outcomes of research on the brain. Two University research centres: the Health Sciences Research Centre (HSRC) and the Centre for Research in Cognition, Emotion and Interaction (CRICEI), with the help of the Roehampton Widening Participation Group, hosted a group of GCSE students from Chessington Community College, Christ’s School and Norbury Manor College for an afternoon of demonstrations in the neurobiology and cognitive psychology laboratories. The guests learnt about research on Alzheimer’s disease, brain microscopy, electroencephalography (EEG) and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS).

Through our annual contribution to BAW, we reach out to the community and disseminate our research carried out at Roehampton.
