The Clinical and Health Psychology Research Centre (CHP) focuses on investigating the interaction of behavioural, biological environmental and sociocultural factors in the aetiology, maintenance and prevention of health problems, and in health promotion. It combines excellent pure and applied research in a state-of-the-art multidisciplinary environment.

Research in CHP is carried out in adolescent health, adult psychopathology and neuropsychology. Our research facilities include developmental, food, neuropsychological and psychophysiological laboratories. For field research we have a range of ambulatory testing equipment and a comprehensive psychological test library.

We continue to receive funding from national and international organisations including research councils, charities and industry.

Our aims are

  • to promote research on the interaction of behavioural, biological, environmental and sociocultural factors in the aetiology, maintenance and prevention of mental health and medical problems and in the promotion of healthy human development
  • to engender a research culture that goes beyond the boundaries of individual research groups
  • to stimulate and motivate established researchers; to foster the development of new researchers; and to promote the growth of our postgraduate portfolio within an environment of mutual support and respect.

CHP welcomes enquiries from potential Research students. Please visit the University of Roehampton Graduate School pages for information on how to apply.
