Evidentiary Politics in Kenya

CRESIDA,

16:00 - 17:00

In this CRESIDA Webinar, Rob Lorway from the University of Manitoba will be giving a talk titled 'Evidentiary Politics: Landscapes of Intervention and Dissent in Kenya'.

Abstract

This presentation traces how an extensive HIV surveillance apparatus in Kenya emerged and shaped the logics and practices of an array of epidemic responders. Surveillance techniques increasingly attached themselves to health service delivery and biomedical research programs, blurring the boundaries between these domains. As HIV activism became entangled in surveillance webs, population health logics found a vital home in sex worker politics and protestation.
