Things I wish I did more of when I was a Fresher

Before I started my first year in Marketing and Multimedia, I had great plans to join as many clubs and societies as possible. I wanted to make the most of uni life, be more sociable and make lots of new friends along the way. But it didn’t quite work out the way I planned it to! I remember receiving so many emails and seeing social media posts about upcoming events and things students can take part in but I never went along.

After finishing (and passing - phew!) my first year, I reflected on how I found uni life. I started to realise that there was so much cool and interesting stuff going on that I could have been involved in.

This made me more determined to enjoy it in my second year. So I made sure I explored the beautiful campus and got involved in some of the fantastic events on offer. Some of which have really helped me figure out what I want to do in the future. For example I did a four day leadership course, all for free, and got to meet big multinational companies in the city.

I’m now at the beginning of my third and final year and never realised how quickly three years would pass me by so, for anyone just starting out, make sure to make the most of it right from the beginning! Seize every opportunity that comes your way - you definitely won’t regret it!
