Things to do around campus for cheap (or free)!

Most of these events will repeat throughout the year, so make sure to head to the RSU website and student portal to see when your favourite chill events will be on again.  Check out some of these or all of them!  They are all on different days or at different times, so you can check out each one.

1. Sunday Night Pub quiz – Head down to the Union Bar every Sunday for a night of fun pub quiz questions.  This is a great way to wake up those brains after a crazy BOP on Friday and or a night out on Saturday.  Sometimes the quiz is general knowledge, with 5 rounds of ten questions, and is sometimes themed.  So any Harry Potter fans out there, get ready to test your knowledge on November 26th, and feel free to dress up.  Best quiz team name receives an extra few points.

£1 per person, per team.  Up to 6 people on a team.  Winners split the money collected on the night.

2. Growhampton Farmers Market - Every Thursday, Digby Square fills up with stalls of fresh fruit and vegetable for sale for much cheaper than ASDA or the Co-Op.  Organically grown on campus and collected each morning, our market is the best place to grab some healthy food on campus.  We also sell eggs from our very own happy hens and run a thrift shop for a little mid-week shopping.

£1 for a bag of ultra-local super greens.  Greek, Korean and Spanish food trucks also roll onto campus.

3. Karaoke (and other Thirsty Thursday Events) – Though it takes place in the Union bar, you don’t need to pay to take part in Karaoke on December 7th or Battle of the Bands on November 23rd.  Thursday nights at the Union is a great time to kick back on our amazing sofas and relax with your friends, whether you have a drink or not.

Entry to Thirsty Thursday Events are free to attend and go on from 8pm-midnight.

4. Chill-A-Thon – Who doesn’t love a good movie and snack night?  Especially when it’s free!  De-stress with free tea, coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits, cakes and so much more! Come along in all of your comfy stuff and enjoy a selection of light hearted films.  We set out beanbag chairs, blankets and pillows for you to relax on.

Join us in Monte Hall from 11am-6pm on November 17th and December 8th to get some R&R while laughing along to some favourite classics.

5. Monday Night Yoga – For students who sometimes need a night to test their muscles in a relaxed and judgment free environment.  The Wellbeing Team hosts this amazing Yoga session taught by an instructor from Putney’s House of Yoga.  The session is first come, first serve and there are only around 15 spaces, so make sure to turn up before the session starts to get your name down.

Yoga is every Monday (unless told otherwise) from 6:30-7:30pm and is completely free!
