Pay and pensions

We provide competitive rates of pay for our staff, with clear and transparent progression routes. Our staff also have access to two excellent, final average salary, pension schemes: the Local Government Pension Scheme or the Teachers’ Pension Scheme. If you are currently a member of the Universities Superannuation Scheme you have the option to stay in this scheme if you join Roehampton.

Annual leave

We offer generous annual leave entitlements to our staff, ranging from 28 to 38 days dependent upon your role, along with 8 paid bank holidays.

Career development

We provide all staff with access to high-quality staff development opportunities, including a wide range of internal staff training opportunities. The opportunities available will be tailored to your individual needs as part of the annual business planning and appraisal process. The University also actively engages with the Association of University Administrators (AUA). We have an established staff mentoring and induction programme to ensure that all staff feel part of the wider Roehampton community as soon as they join us.

Supporting teaching and research

The University offers excellent facilities for staff engaged in teaching and research. We offer modern teaching spaces and high-quality specialist equipment and facilities. Financial support and banking

Roehampton is a member of Santander Universities, a global network of universities supported by Santander. Through this scheme Roehampton staff have access to a range of banking services on campus, and can access preferential rates on mortgages and other financial products.

All Roehampton staff can also choose to receive an NUS Extra card. The card provides substantial savings with over 100 businesses, including Pizza Express, Superdrug, ASOS, Miss Selfridge and many more. The card costs £11 per year but will save you a great deal more!

Roehampton has negotiated a number of discounts with a range of local businesses.

Season ticket loans and tax-free bicycles

The university supports staff financially in getting to work in an environmental and healthy way.  Members of staff may apply for a season ticket loan as long as they have at least a six month contract with the University.

We have also partnered with Cyclescheme to offer the opportunity for staff to ride a tax-free bicycle to work.

Flexible working and childcare

We are committed to offering reasonable flexible working opportunities to staff with children or caring commitments.

The University offers employees with parental responsibilities childcare vouchers which can bring significant tax and national insurance savings. Our childcare vouchers are operated by FairCare.

Health and wellbeing

As part of our aim to enhance the wellbeing of our staff, we offer health MOTs, flu jabs, team participation activities and informative health related talks.

University staff whose work involves habitual and prolonged computer use are entitled to an eyesight test paid for by the University. We also provide the opportunity of membership health insurance schemes, provided by PPP and BUPA, on preferential terms.

Our Employee Assistance Programme offers our staff and members of their immediate family/household with free confidential 24/7 internet and telephone access to professional support covering a broad range of topics including financial, legal and personal.

We also have a chaplaincy service which provides prayer and worship opportunities for staff from a variety of faith groups. Those with no denomination are also welcome at our Chapels who work to promote an inclusive environment.
