The Alumni Referral Bursary and Reward Scheme

The Alumni Referral Bursary and Reward is designed to recognise and reward alumni who refer new students to the University with a bursary to new students and a reward to the referring alum.

The Bursary and Reward scheme is open to alumni of Roehampton and its four Colleges, who have successfully graduated from a full-time or part-time undergraduate or postgraduate course. The Bursary is awarded as follows:

  • Applicant to receive £1,000.
  • Referring Alum to receive a loyalty reward of £300.

Some alumni may be excluded from applying (see Eligibility Criteria section for details).

The 2024 scheme is open until 31/12/2024 to applicants who are applying to enrol at Roehampton in September 2024 or January 2025.

Eligibility criteria are below.

Eligibility criteria for Referring Alumni

  • The scheme is open to alumni of Roehampton and its four Colleges, who have successfully graduated from a full-time or part-time undergraduate or postgraduate course. This includes graduates from Roehampton University, Roehampton Institute London and University of Surrey Roehampton.
  • Some alumni may be excluded from applying (see below for eligibility).
  • For Alumni to qualify for a reward - the Referred Students must successfully enrol on their programme and successfully complete their first semester and be up to date with their tuition fee payments.
  • The £300 reward may be donated back to the University Hardship Fund if desired.

Eligibility criteria for Referred Students

  • Referred students must be new UK fee paying students who have not previously enrolled on any Roehampton University programme or course, including a Roehampton degree gained from any partner institution.
  • Referred students must be enrolled on an undergraduate or postgraduate programme at Roehampton in the Autumn 2024 or January 2025 enrolment dates.
  • Some referred students may be excluded from participating in this scheme (see below 'Who Is not eligible to participate').

Who is not eligible to participate?

  • Employees of Roehampton University, its subsidiaries, or partners including full-time, part-time and associate staff who are contracted to the University are prohibited from participation in this scheme, either as a Referring Alum or as a Referred Student.
  • Recruitment Agents (i.e. individuals or representatives of organisations, acting in an agency capacity who generate income from identifying potential students and facilitating their application and enrolment at education institutions) with whom Roehampton University has a working relationship or existing contractual agreement.
  • Applicants applying via agents are not eligible.
  • Alumni will receive a financial reward of £300 (made via a direct bank transfer) once the Referred Student has successfully completed their first semester and have paid the relevant tuition fees. The Alum’s bank details will be requested via a secure email form.
  • Referring Alumni can choose to donate this reward (in part or in full) to Roehampton University Student Hardship Fund.
  • Referring Alumni can make any number of applications under the Scheme until 31/12/2024.
  • Reward payments for each successful referral application under the Scheme may be subject to tax according to UK laws.
  • Rewards are made to Alumni on a first-come-first-served basis (i.e. if a student is referred by more than one Alum, the first referral will be deemed the only valid one).
  • Roehampton University reserves the right to alter the terms and conditions of the Scheme, or withdraw the Scheme at any time without prior notice.
  • Roehampton University’s decision on the interpretation of eligibility criteria and discretion to make a payment is final. There is no right of appeal.
  • Roehampton University reserves the right to terminate and/or demand repayment of funds made to a recipient in error.
  • Roehampton University reserves the right to reject an application from anyone who is found to have misled the University about any aspect of their eligibility and to seek repayment of any monies already paid by appropriate means.

How do I apply?

Once the Referred friend or family member has made their application to Roehampton you as the Referring Alum will need to complete the application form below. You will need:

  • Your name and student ID
  • The applicant’s name and UCAS ID
  • The Roehampton programme the applicant is applying for
